Programme Goals
Mastering Control for PSLE Writing

Many P6 students who are strong in English struggle with PSLE Paper 1. This is not because they lack language ability, but because they lack a clear system for thinking, planning, and controlling their writing under exam pressure. As a result, compositions may sound fluent but fall short in relevance, structure, or depth.

The Curion P6 Composition Accelerator is a focused, exam-ready programme that addresses this gap directly.

For Compositions, Control Matters More Than Creativity

PSLE examiners reward control over creativity.
A good composition is not about dramatic twists or impressive vocabulary, but about:

  • Correctly understanding the question’s theme
  • Addressing the theme in your essay
  • Logical story progression
  • Details that move the story forward
  • Reflective, meaningful conclusions

This programme trains students to write with intentional structure and clarity, so their ideas land effectively with examiners.

The FormuFlow Method

At the core of the programme is Curion’s FormuFlow method, a proprietary flowchart-based writing system.

Instead of jumping from one random topic to another each week, FormuFlow introduces four powerful Core Themes that underpin almost every PSLE composition question type. Students learn to recognise these patterns and apply a repeatable planning flow to any prompt they face.

This removes guesswork and replaces it with confident decision-making.

How do we achieve this?

Here is an example of a P6 Composition Accelerator lesson.

FormuFlow Theme: Encountering the Unexpected

One key Core Theme taught at P6 is Encountering the Unexpected, explored through sub-themes such as Blessings in Disguise.

Through this theme, students learn to:

  • Write narratives with emotional contrast
  • Develop meaningful disruptions that serve the story’s purpose
  • Craft reflective endings, a recognised PSLE strength area
  • Focus on what changes inside the character, not just what happens externally

Students are guided to plan the reflective ending before writing the story, ensuring every plot decision supports the final message.

How Lessons Are Structured

Each lesson follows a deliberate learning flow:

  • Theme exploration and reading for discernment
  • Vocabulary building for journeys, disruption, and response
  • Guided story planning using a visual “story mountain”
  • Independent writing with real-time teacher feedback

This structured progression helps students bridge planning and execution smoothly.

Outcomes for P6 Students

By the end of the programme, students will be able to:

  • Approach PSLE composition questions with confidence
  • Generate relevant plot ideas quickly using FormuFlow
  • Write coherent, well-paced narratives under time constraints
  • Produce controlled, reflective compositions that meet PSLE expectations

The Curion Difference

The P6 Composition Accelerator does not train students to memorise stories.
It trains them to think like exam-ready writers.
