Curion

Primary 1 − 6

Structured Primary English Tuition for P1–P6 Learners

At Curion, primary English tuition is more than exam preparation. It is a research-based, systematically designed journey from Primary 1 to 6, where language learning becomes measurable, logical, and deeply engaging.

Our programmes help students build clear thought, precise expression, and confidence across every English component. Each lesson follows a proven framework that transforms how children think, read, write, and speak.

We Don’t Just Mark Mistakes, We Diagnose Skill Gaps.
The Problem

Children are often told to do many practice papers. However, teachers often pinpoint what they got wrong, but not why they got it wrong.

When children make mistakes, it is always linked to a fundamental skill they have not grasped.

So pointing out the right answer for a few particular errors will not always help the child when they do another practice paper.

If the fundamental skill gap is not addressed, children are likely to repeat mistakes.

Our Method

Curion takes a smarter, skill-based approach.

Our Skill Pillar framework consists of 6 Core Skills to master English. Each core skill is then divided into modular sub-skills.

In our lessons, every learning module targets a specific sub-skill. Progress on each skill is tracked precisely and consistently throughout the term, using a detailed scorecard.

When a child struggles, we don’t just give the right answer. We diagnose the root cause and reteach the skill that’s missing.

The Result
  • No more confusion about where they went wrong
  • No more blind drilling
  • Clear, targeted support

This is how we create lasting growth.

With detailed diagnostics, we give every child a map for improvement.

How Our Method Transforms Every English Component

These are the positive outcomes students can expect if they master all the skills within our Skill Pillar framework:

PSLE Component
Without a Framework
With Curion’s Skill Pillars

Comprehension (Open-Ended)

Lifts lines blindly from the passage or writes vague, incomplete answers

Learns how to break down questions, infer meaning, and answer with precision in their own words

Comprehension Cloze

Relies on guesswork and intuition, with no strategy for choosing the right word

Trains pattern recognition, contextual logic, and grammar cues to approach Cloze passages methodically

Grammar

Practices through scattered drills with little retention or understanding

Builds grammar rules into progressive modules, reinforced through usage in writing and speaking

Vocabulary

Memorises word lists but misuses vocabulary in context

Expands vocabulary through application-based learning, used across writing, oral, and comprehension tasks

Oral Communication

Gives short, hesitant answers and lacks confidence in elaborating ideas

Practices scaffolded speaking routines, discussion prompts, and expressive techniques to speak fluently and clearly

Continuous Writing (Composition)

Struggles to start or relies on memorised model essays that don’t fit the question

Think thematically with the FormuFlow Method, to generate original ideas and answer question prompts accurately within time constraints.

Due to the depth and rigour of our FormuFlow method, we offer a dedicated Composition Accelerator programme (P3–5) focused on helping students master it fully.

Students in Curion Mastery will receive only a brief introduction to its core themes, given time constraints. While this introduction supports smoother idea generation, it does not provide the same confidence or efficiency as full training.

Those in Composition Accelerator are systematically equipped with the entire FormuFlow process. This enables them to tackle any composition topic with clarity and speed.

Assessment & Feedback Structure

We believe that assessment isn’t about scoring a child. It’s about understanding their progress and where to help them grow next. That’s why we’ve designed a skills-based feedback system built around key Skill Pillars.

These include, and are not limited to:

Understanding

Listening
Understanding tone, detail, and intent

Reading
Extracting, inferring, and analysing information
Expression

Speaking

From short responses to fluent, confident conversations

Writing

Structure, clarity, and style

Mechanics & Creativity

Grammar

Syntax, parts of speech, and error correction

Vocabulary

From functional to sophisticated, with contextual awareness

How We Use Our Skill Pillars

Each term, your child’s learning is mapped across these goalposts. Rather than just “Composition: 28/36”, we give you a detailed scorecard assessing each sub-skill:

Final Feedback

“They’re strong in grammar spotting but struggle with vocabulary-in-context.”

“They’re clear in oral delivery, but need to practise idea elaboration.”

“Your child has made progress in emotional expression but needs work on story structure”

This clarity allows us to tailor teaching to each child’s needs, help parents understand what their child is working on, and show measurable growth beyond exam marks.

Systematic Mastery

Our curriculum is aligned with the MOE English syllabus, ensuring relevance at every level. Each skill is taught through clear frameworks that reveal why mistakes occur and how to fix them. Nothing is random; every activity has diagnostic purpose.

Small Class Sizes

Classes remain intentionally small so teachers can observe each learner closely. This allows for immediate feedback, guided correction, and genuine participation in every lesson.

fi_16825563

Measurable Improvement

Progress is tracked through the Skill Pillars system, six competencies assessed consistently across terms. Parents receive detailed scorecards showing exactly what has improved, and what still needs work.

Experienced Educators

Our teachers are language specialists trained in Curion’s pedagogy. They teach methodically, analyse data precisely, and make every session purposeful.

Common Challenges Faced by Primary Students in English

What Primary Students Can Usually Do
What Tends to Be Missing Underneath
Read short texts fluently
Deeper comprehension and critical thinking
Write simple sentences and pass basic assessments
Ability to organise ideas as writing length increases
Have enough vocabulary for routine questions
Range and flexibility to express ideas across diverse topics

These challenges often stay hidden until upper primary, when PSLE-level English demands inference, synthesis, and expression. By then, unaddressed gaps are harder to close.

At Curion, we identify and fix them early (and systematically).

How We Build English Mastery

Our learning system integrates two proprietary frameworks that power our primary
English tuition:

Skill Pillars

A six-pillar framework that maps every English skill — Listening, Reading, Speaking, Writing, Grammar, and Vocabulary.
Each lesson targets one or more Pillars, allowing precise progress tracking and data-driven reteaching.

FormuFlow

A structured approach to composition writing.
It teaches students how to plan ideas logically, maintain flow, and express thoughts with clarity.
FormuFlow replaces guesswork with strategy, so writing becomes deliberate, not dependent on “flair.”

FAQs About Curion’s Primary English Tuition

What makes Curion’s Primary English tuition unique?

Our system teaches English as a science. Lessons follow diagnostic frameworks, not rote drilling. Each skill is measured, taught, and reinforced until mastery. This structured, research-based method creates steady progress and long-term confidence.

Are lessons aligned with the MOE English syllabus?

Yes. Every topic, exercise, and assessment aligns with MOE standards while extending beyond them. We teach underlying thinking—inference, reasoning, and synthesis—so students handle all school and national exams with clarity and precision.

How do you track student progress?

Through our Skill Pillars framework. Each term, teachers assess all six skill domains, documenting strengths and areas for growth. Parents receive detailed scorecards that make improvement transparent, objective, and easy to act on.

What age should my child start English tuition?

We recommend beginning from Primary 1 or 2. Early exposure allows foundational skills, including comprehension, grammar, and expression, to develop naturally, preventing stress later when exam complexity increases.

Is this tuition suitable for both strong and weak students?

Yes. Because we teach by skill rather than score, every student benefits. Strong learners refine higher-order techniques; developing learners close gaps systematically. Each child advances from their own starting point, at a measured, sustainable pace.

How can I enrol or book a trial?

Complete the form on this page or contact your preferred branch. Our team will schedule a complimentary trial class to evaluate fit and recommend the most suitable level for your child.
