Curion Sprouts, K2
Programme Goals
K2 presents a crucial opportunity to prepare for primary-level writing and comprehension. In the Curion Sprouts programme, we focus on the thinking skills required to excel in primary school. These include: organising thoughts, expanding on details, connecting ideas, and much more.
Story-Driven Learning

Children receive one new storybook every lesson. In each story, children must solve a language puzzle. Every book ends on a suspenseful cliffhanger, keeping students excited to learn more. 

Each week’s storybook is accompanied by a detailed lesson plan, such as the one below:

Long /i/ CVCe words, S-blend revision, sequencing events, and using descriptive adjectives
Glow-in-the-Dark Word Hunt

Children search the room for hidden CVCe word cards and practise decoding with teacher guidance.

Reinforces phonics blending and visual recognition through active, sensory-based learning.

Magic E Song + Flashcard Drill

Students learn the long /i/ sound through an engaging song and practise reading words using interactive flashcards.

Builds mastery of the long vowel i and introduces the rule of the silent ‘e’.

Story Time: Ocean Adventure with a Twist

As part of the ongoing Curion narrative, students meet glowing ocean creatures and participate in key story moments.

Enhances comprehension and emotional inference while building vocabulary in context.

3.
Fish Puzzle Phonics Game

Children help mixed-up glowing fish by rearranging their body parts to form correct CVCe words.

Applies phonics knowledge creatively and builds confidence in spelling and decoding.

4.
Sequencing Challenge

Students use time words (first, next, then, finally) to verbally and visually sequence the story’s events.

Strengthens narrative structure understanding and early writing fluency.

Secret Message Game

Students play a telephone-style game using CVCe word cards to reinforce listening, memory, and pronunciation.
